How International Coaches Are Launching in Bali (And What Most Get Wrong)

Every few months, an international coach lands in Bali and books a venue without knowing anyone. Half of them leave disappointed. The other half, the ones who succeed, do one thing differently.

What a successful Bali launch actually looks like, and the three mistakes most visiting coaches and speakers make before they even land. Including what Ken Honda did differently.

Every few months, a well-known coach or speaker lands in Bali and does the same thing. They book a beautiful venue, create an event page, post about it on Instagram, and wonder why the room is half-full, or empty.

I watch this happen regularly. And I watch the other version too: the coach who arrives with a warm introduction, gets placed in the right room before they launch anything, and sells out their first Bali event without a single paid ad.

What a successful Bali launch looks like

Ken Honda is a good example. When he came to Bali, he did not just book a venue and promote to his list. He came into the community first, attended events, was introduced to the right people, built a real presence in the ecosystem. By the time his event launched, the community already knew him. The room filled from the inside out, not the outside in.

That is the pattern I have seen work consistently. Community first, launch second. The Bali market responds to trust, not reach.

The three mistakes visiting coaches make

  • Treating Bali like a market, not a community. Bali has a sharp filter for people who arrive extracting rather than contributing. Arrive with curiosity. Show up for other people's events before you launch your own.
  • Expecting social media to do the local work. Your Instagram reach is almost entirely outside Bali. The people who will fill your room in Canggu are hearing about you from someone they trust who met you in person.
  • Launching too quickly. The coaches who succeed give themselves 4–6 weeks of community building before they launch anything. The ones who arrive and launch within a week almost always underperform.

What you actually need: curation, not promotion

The Bali market responds to curation. Being introduced at the right event. Being mentioned by the right person. A well-placed introduction from a trusted connector can open doors in 24 hours that six months of content marketing could not.

The Bali Market Activation program

The Bali Market Activation is what I built for coaches, speakers, and thought leaders who want to launch in Bali without making the mistakes most people make. Community positioning first, placing you in the right rooms, making the right introductions, building the local trust that converts to ticket sales. Then the event itself: venue, co-curation of guests, on-the-ground production, and the follow-through.

  • Access to the Ascend curated network of founders, leaders, and community members
  • Personal introductions before you launch anything publicly
  • Co-hosted event with Ascend positioning your credibility to the community
  • Full ground-level production: venue, guests, logistics, follow-up

It is for serious players who understand that the right positioning is worth more than any ad spend. The starting point is an application and a conversation.
